Abstract

The study analyzes the perceptions of young Communications and Marketing students and graduates in Nuevo León regarding the labor market and their academic preparation. The results reveal a significant gap between the skills acquired at universities and the demands of the professional environment. Participants highlight challenges such as low salaries, uncompetitive working conditions, and market saturation, which complicate their professional development.

Deficiencies were also identified in specific technical professional skills, such as the use of advanced digital tools, and in interpersonal skills crucial to excel in the sector. These deficiencies reflect the disconnect between academic training and job demands.

The study underscores the need to adapt educational programs to ensure comprehensive preparation, fostering technical skills and professional values that improve employability. Furthermore, it proposes greater collaboration between universities and companies to align academic offerings with market needs.

Close collaboration between academia, industry, and graduates is key to bridging the gap between expectations and reality, enabling Communications and Marketing professionals to successfully position themselves in a competitive job market.
